Rice Lake is a city in Barron County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 8,320. The city is located mostly within the Town of Rice Lake.

There were 3,799 housing units at an average density of 170.0/km (440.1/mi). The racial makeup of the city was 96.91% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 0.72% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.67% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.50% of the population.

There were 3,615 households out of which 27.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.3% were married couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.7% were non-families. 34.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.89.
